FAQ

The secret of being a good Business Consultant:
Stay curious and ask questions!

There are 3 phases for mapping out your business process. The total hours of process mapping is the sum of hours spent in these phases.

  1. The research phase. I have (virtual) meetings with the related stakeholders to gather all the information needed. The more stakeholders involved, the more complex the process is, the more hours will be needed.
  2. The mapping phase. I map out your business process with the information gathered from the first phase. The more complex the process is, the more hours will be needed.
  3. The review and approval phase. I have (virtual) meetings with all the stakeholders to review and confirm the mapped out process.

Just to give you a general impression, it costs 15 hours to map out a 2 level business process for a single service that involves 3 stakeholders. Check this example to get a more straightforward impression.

As mentioned in the above question, I work with 3 phases to map out your business process.

1. Research. -> 2. Map. -> 3. Review.

Firstly, I will schedule virtual meetings with your stakeholders to gather the information needed. Then I start the mapping work. Once the draft is done, I will schedule review sessions with your stakeholders and make changes that are necessary. With all the approval of all the stakeholders, I will hand over the mapped out process and other related documents mentioned in our contract to you.

Check here to see the process flowchart of mapping out your business process.

It’s always good to come prepared. The more information you can provide, the shorter the research phase (hours = €) will be. You can check this by asking yourself the following questions.

Is there a draft or previous mapped out process? Is there any training material, development documents that describe how the process work? Is there a list of all the stakeholders?

I will send you a proposal after our free consult call. In the proposal, I will estimate the hours needed to complete the work.

You approve the proposal and pay 50% of the estimated hours as the prepayment. I will start my work after I receive the prepayment.

I will deliver you the approved work and an invoice stating the actual hours spent on this project. You pay for the amount of actual hours minus the prepayment. You have 14 days to complete the payment after you receive the invoice.

That’s a fair question and the answer is, yes!

Business process mapping is a general skill. It can be applied to all types of organizations. Next to this, it’s fairly common to bring in an ”outsider” for your change management. The fresh view of the ”outsider” usually leads to an outside-the-box solution to your current challenge.

No, it doesn’t.

The COVID pandemic has truly changed our way of working. I’ve been working remotely to map out countless business processes for my employer during this period. The successful result has proven that remote collaboration doesn’t impact the quality of the result of process mapping.

For basic communication: email or Linkedin message.

For virtual meetings: Zoom or Google meet. Take your pick!
